Continuing to Stay Safe on Site as Lockdown is Eased
With the COVID-19 lockdown easing, lots of stalled construction and home renovation projects are now progressing in earnest and, here at HD Scaffolding, we have been busy ensuring our working practices meet the latest guidelines and safety measures.
In fact, as a trade that works outdoors, we have been busy throughout the lockdown, working on projects that were mission critical and covered by the guidance for essential activities. It means that we’re ahead of the curve when it comes to adapting to the ‘new normal’, so a socially-distanced approach to managing our team and our interactions on site are now embedded in how we work.
We provide all documentation in a paperless format to avoid handling of paper and pens on site and hold meetings and briefing sessions in a socially distanced outdoor environment. If there are other trades on site, we liaise with the main contractor to ensure that arrival times are staggered and work within the latest site operating procedures issued by the Construction Leadership Council.
The focus on health and safety that has always been central to the way we operate has been hugely beneficial in helping us adapt to the working practices required following the pandemic. We pull together a method statement and risk assessment for each project and this now includes consideration of social distancing and sanitisation of the scaffold before we leave site.
We have also briefed our teams to ensure that safe working practices are maintained on site at all times, and they have done a fantastic job of working flexibly as guidance has changed.
It’s great to see so many projects now going ahead, but we are mindful that the virus is still out there, which makes it a hazard that has to be managed. As always, we’re committed to keeping our customers, our teams and our delivery partners safe.
